Apple’s 52 week high market cap is higher than MSFT’s 52 week low
There is lots of speculation about whether Apple will catch MSFT in terms of market cap. Apple is on a bender right now with the iPhone, iPod, iPad and Mac sales and who knows what they will announce next. Adding Verizon to the iPhone family would certainly add a lot more iPhones but may change the value per phone if they lose the sweet deal they have with AT&T. They maybe cooking up something with Apple TV that could change the TV industry in the same way that their iPhone changed the mobile phone industry. iPad prices will likely drop at the end of the year and it wouldn’t surprise me if they passed 10 million units in 2010 and more and more students, companies and professionals are going to Macs for the platform for choice.
Meanwhile, MSFT is way behind in mobile, consumers are frustrated with their OS and they just don’t seem to be doing much that is exciting to consumers. Bing has gained some momentum but Google is still dominating search.
Not if, but when will AAPL have a bigger market cap than MSFT. One more big announcement may do it
